Glenda is well known in Lithgow for the wide range of her musical talents, she grew up in a musical family, with her grandmother at one time being an understudy for Dame Nellie Melba. Glenda has been performing since she was three years old, and once appeared on WIN TV in a talent quest, she loves Karaoke and was the reigning “Karaoke Queen” for three years running. She now has her own Karaoke equipment and often does shows for services that look after people who have a range of disabilities, as well as running a music group for young people.

Glenda has had a very varied career in music, she has performed with many bands playing different styles of music ranging from country and western to jazz, blues, folk and contemporary, but her favourite music is the blues.

When asked what the greatest moment in her music career was, Glenda said that it would have to be appearing on a harbour cruise in Sydney with the well known band ‘Kevin Borich Express’  performing the classic ‘Stormy Monday’.

She has performed at many local events such as Celebrate Lithgow, Australia Day celebrations, Ironfest, Harmony Day, Union Theatre concerts, and a book launch at which she performed her own composition. There has even been the odd day or two of busking!!.

Her musical heroes are diverse, ranging from The Chieftans to Led Zepplin, U2, Annie Lennox, Joe Cocker and Pink Floyd.

A wonderful singing voice, the ability to write and perform her own songs, her love of music and her great skill on her 12 string Maton  guitar make Glenda a wonderful asset to the musical community in Lithgow.

Being able to make a living from music is a dream that Glenda would love to fulfill, touring with her own Blues/Jazz band for six months a year and holidaying for the other six months would be her idea of heaven, but in the meantime she will content herself with Lithgow and her regular appearances at the Folk Club sessions.
